About Nitex
Nitex is a managed marketplace connecting apparel brands with manufacturing partners, now headquartered in Singapore with other bases in London and Barcelona. In 2019, Nitex was still an idea. The founders had a clear problem they wanted to solve in apparel sourcing, but no product to show for it. TechCare came in at that starting point and worked with the founders from the ground up, turning a founder’s vision into the first working version of the Nitex platform.
How the Project Started
There was no existing product to improve. The engagement began with the founders explaining the problem, the gaps in how apparel brands find and manage manufacturing partners, and what a managed marketplace could look like. TechCare's approach was to sit with the founders early, listen closely, and ask questions before designing anything.
The Challenges
What TechCare Built
TechCare's Journey With the Project
June 2019 - Discovery and Listening
Work started with conversations, not wireframes. TechCare listened to the founders describe the sourcing problem from every angle, then worked through what a managed marketplace needed to do for both sides of the transaction.
Mid 2019 - Structuring the Idea
With the problem understood, TechCare mapped the two core user journeys, the buyer flow and the admin flow, and defined the scope for a landing page, an admin panel, and a buyer-facing web app.
Summer 2019 - Design and Execution
TechCare designed and built the three pieces in parallel: the public landing page to bring buyers in, the buyer portal to let them source and track orders, and the admin panel to give the Nitex team control over the marketplace.
October 2019 - Handover
The engagement closed with a working platform in the founders' hands, built around the business model they had described that first month. Nitex went on to build its own in-house team to take the product forward.
Where Nitex Is Today
Nitex has grown well beyond the platform TechCare helped shape in 2019. The company relocated its headquarters to Singapore that same year and now runs design and delivery teams across Dhaka, London, Barcelona, and New York, backed by a network of certified factories in Bangladesh.
In October 2024, Nitex secured 3 million US dollars in new funding from investor Base Capital, according to a Deal Street Asia report on regulatory filings.
Today, Nitex works with brands including River Island, LAURA, Scalpers, Reiss, Amazon, The Very Group, and Seasalt Cornwall. We're proud to have helped shape where they started.
The Blueprint TechCare Built
The screens below are from the original buyer portal and admin panel TechCare designed and built in 2019. The Nitex platform has evolved a great deal since, new features, new design, new scale, but this was the blueprint it grew from: one side for buyers to browse and source, one side for the Nitex team to manage products, projects, and requests for quotes.
How We Work With Founders
The Nitex engagement is a good example of how TechCare starts every founder project. Before any design or code, we sit down with the founder and listen. Not a quick intake call, real conversations about the problem, the customers, and what success looks like.
This is why founders keep coming back to TechCare when the idea is still just an idea. We've done it before, and we know how to turn a conversation into a product a founder can actually run their business on.
